Goal

Disseminate 508 compliant opioid crisis data to the general public via SAMHSA’s digital communication platforms.

Impact

In 2017, there were more than 130 daily opioid overdose deaths. To combat this crisis, SAMHSA’s 2018 priority was to communicate the severity of the opioid crisis to the public. SeKON helped prepare 508 compliant communications, which included distributing the Surgeon General’s Spotlight on Opioids. This spotlight provides the public with opioid-related information – research, suggestions, available services and recommendations for action – in one, easy-to-read document (available on SAMHSA.gov).

Impact

CMS relies on OIT’s staff and systems to provide service to millions of Americans. SeKON acts as a trusted advisor to the Office of Information Technology. We provide Workforce Development Initiatives that facilitate OIT employees to become capable and committed to support the many critical CMS IT systems.

What originally started as an innovative pioneering way to explore how to motivate the IT workforce across OIT, the Workforce Development Initiatives have become a human capital offering, used across the entire CMS enterprise in multiple offices and components.

Goal

Provide cyber security support services to the Department of Defense during the transition from DoD Information Assurance Certification and Accreditation Process (DIACAP) to National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Risk Management Process.

Impact

SeKON achieved RMF authorization to operate (ATO) for six systems ahead of schedule allowing the initial roll-out of MHS Genesis, a program that serves approximately 9.4 million beneficiaries and 205,000 Medical Health System (MHS) personnel globally.

Application development and maintenance of the Prevention Research Synthesis Web (PRS-Web)

Goal

Help identify evidence-based interventions (EBIs) and best practices to help HIV prevention planners and providers in the U.S. select interventions most appropriate for HIV prevention in their communities.

Impact

The PRS-Web database allows CDC Health Scientists to review over 80,000 published interventions, housed in a single location. PRS-Web helps to identify gaps in the existing research and recommends directions for future study. Interventions with greatest impact are published to the CDC website for use by HIV prevention researchers, service providers, users, planners, and policy makers, providing proven interventions for dissemination and implementation.
