Designing at SAMHSA
For the last three months, the SeKON Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) team has been super focused on our COR’s top priorities. We developed and deployed a new design of a Resource Center interface that we applied to the Evidence-Based Practice Resource Center (EBPRC) https://www.samhsa.gov/resource-search/ebp. The new design will be applied to the Disaster Behavioral Health Information Series (DBHIS) Resource Center next. The Design Team conducted several interactive Design Studio sessions as the Office of Communications reimagined the look and feel of the https://www.samhsa.gov/ homepage and SAMHSA Blog integration. The Development team has been all hands-on deck preparing the SAMHSA site for Drupal 9: implementing a “lift and shift” from the Drupal 8 Omega theme, which is no longer supported in Drupal 9, to an IDEA compliant USWDS (United States Web Design System) theme; cleaning out old obsolete modules; and standardizing the base design of the entire site. The Infrastructure Team has continued to support the SAMHSA Division of Technology as they migrate sites from the Gov cloud to a commercial cloud.
It is hard to believe it has been over a year since the COVID-19 lock down and an all-remote staff. The entire SAMHSA team continued to deliver quality work through the epidemic and continues to exceed customer expectations.
We would also like to welcome Tim Freitag, our newest Drupal Developer. He will play a vital role in the re-theming lift and shift effort as he comes on-board.
