Team SeKON has recently increased its work at the National Heart Lung and Blood Institute (NHLBI) of The National Institutes of Health (NIH). In addition to handling a multitude of routine (and some not-so-routine) content updates every month, the team moved to its next phase of cleanup of intranet pages, focusing on adding or correcting alt tags for 508 Compliance. Assisting in the success of this phase was the conversion of our tracking spreadsheet into a SharePoint list, which was suggested and implemented by SharePoint Lead Mark Fiery. We are also executing an intranet glossary project, where Irene Rojas and Leidos team members Paul Lombard and Shawn Coty have been leading the way. Helping build a new dynamic org chart for NHLBI has also kept us busy.
Additionally, Team SeKON recently increased its level of public site assignments, with the help of Alessandra Lane, a former SeKON employee who moved to the NHLBI’s Office of Science Policy, Engagement, Radiation and Communications (OSPEEC). Public site updates are managed by SeKON’s Mel Wingate-Bey, with help from Charles Piercy, who handles both internet and intranet work. The internet (public site) work includes a revamp of the BMI Calculator, which analytics show is getting exponentially increased usage during the pandemic!
Communicating the team’s work throughout NHLBI continues, as well. Communications Lead Brian Lyles is working with NHLBI’s Communications group to develop strategies to inform NHLBI about a new job aid for Section 508 Compliance, as well as our other achievements. 508 Remediation work has expanded for team member Nathalie File. We also welcomed two new Leidos members to our team, Sherry Jones and Nadji Grizzle.
After working from home during these past 15 months, Team SeKON is anxious to move on to normal, post-pandemic life at our office in Bethesda, Maryland! This was exemplified by an early and high COVID-19 vaccination rate, as most of our team members were quick to share the happy news of receiving their shots in May.
